Live @ Upstate Concert Hall, 5/18/13
So last night my left ear took more of a beating than my right. It still sounds like there’s a tin can in my left ear and I have to listen through it. I’m kind of worried tbh. I don’t wanna be half deaf :-(
Oh wait. What kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t tell you all the songs they played? Well here I go.
In no particular order,
Everything off Permission To Land (except Holding My Own), One Way Ticket and Hazel Eyes, Every Inch Of You, She’s Just A Girl Eddie, Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now, Street Spirit (Fade Out), How Dare You Call This Love, and Best Of Me.
17 amazing songs, plus the silly improvised emo song for thay guy in the audience that likes being miserable xD.
oh my god

Okay well I’m just gonna wait for the video to finish on youtube and upload that here… that’s all of The Darkness spam for tonight after that..
such a good show though.
I’ve seen videos of them live where Justin would just not sound up to par at all. Not even close to the album sound… so I was worried.
They started off with Every Inch Of You, which starts off slow… so for all of 30 seconds I was concerned for his voice until the SUCK MY COCKKKK line. Once I heard that I was like oh HELLO HE’S HERE EVERYONE.
He didn’t let me down ONCE vocally all night.
Even better than the albums, which is rare to say.
I know this is hard for me to admit, but this was a better show than when I saw Sonata in 2010. The Darkness might be the best live band I’ll ever see tbh. And he is such a great front man. Constantly chatting us up between songs, jumping all around, climbing the lights, stage diving, throwing guitar picks at the disco ball…. he was a hell of a showman.
And everyone in the band was so happy and digging every moment of it. Justin told us that a couple days ago they did like 2 small free shows in Baltimore, and yesterday a show in Brooklyn… and all 3 of those shows were just… the audience did not care… but we were one of the best crowds they’d ever done in the US. It was so cool to hear that, and if it’s true, it explains his energy.
Anyway, I had the time of my life with these british fuckers, and plan to go see them every chance I get from now on.
OH PS- DID I MENTION I CAUGHT ONE OF DAN’S GUITAR PICKS? Well I didn’t catch it really… he was throwing a shit ton of them out towardds us, and I saw one hit the ground so I used my phone’s light and grabbed it. But that thing is never leaving my wallet.
